Chairman’s Reserve (Dave’s Review)
Chairman’s Reserve (Dave’s Review)
Objective notes
Very Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)
This affordable blend of handcrafted, double distilled pot and continuous still rums is a eminently drinkable in private as well as approachable for your guests. Delightfully subtle initial bite jumps onto your tongue, only to prepare you for a smoky body and toffee vanilla finish. Medium golden amber color. One guest taster called it "A hot buttered rum without the butter". A bit of an enigma, Chairman's is low priced like a mixing rum, but has all the refined flavor, body, complex spice and long finish that seasoned sippers expect too. Possibly the best value in the Caribbean.
Anecdotal Notes
Chairman's Reserve captures the spirit of the Caribbean at a bargain price. This could become everyone's fun rum, if only it were more widely available. Strangely enough, I've only found it on St. Lucia, and St. Lucians aren't known for keeping things secret.
Update: 11/09 - Chairman’s Reserve is now available in the USA.
Tasters Opinion
Dave - Brings back fond memories of sailing in the Windward islands every time I taste Chairman's Reserve. Easy drinking everyday rum that goes with anything. A house staple by itself drunk neat, but enjoyable on the rocks. Chairman's Reserve is wonderfully universal - good for the aficianado and novice alike. I pour it when introducing guests to fine rum, either neat or as a mixer if they prefer. My advice: don't return home from your Caribbean vacation without at least one bottle of Chairman's Reserve.
