Chairman’s Reserve (Roger’s Review)

Objective Notes
Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)

The first thing you notice when you are fortunate enough to enjoy this rum is the wonderful flavor of vanilla and butterscotch. There is a slight char taste from the oak barrels during the aging process. It ends smooth and warm, with a slightly buttery finish. A complex flavor that is consistent throughout. Light Amber color or golden.

Anecdotal Notes
First tasted on board the S/V Mandalay. This is where Roger met Dave and their partnership began. Dave graciously offered me some of his Chairman’s one evening while anchored off of Mayreau (one of the small islands in St. Vincent and the Grenadines). Chairman’s Reserve was my first real sip of fine rum, and the day that I was born from a rum tasting standpoint. It will always have a place in my heart and on my shelf.

Every time I break out the bottle of Chairman's I see the twin Pitons on the label and it brings fond memories of St. Lucia and sailing the West Indies.

Update: 11/09 - Chairman’s Reserve is now available in the USA.

Tasters Opinion
Roger - This is a rum for enjoying everyday. One of my favorites. You can never have too many bottles of this rum in your collection. For the price it's one of the best. You'll pay three or four times as much for a comparable bottle in the states. The problem is finding it. Outside of St. Lucia it's hard to find. So pick up one – no, make that two – when you are in St. Lucia. I will always have a bottle on hand, and when it's gone I know it's time to make my pilgrimage south.
