Clement 10 ans d’age - Dave’s Review
Clement 10 ans d’age - Dave’s Review
Objective Notes
Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)
Medium amber colored agricole rum (distilled from cane juice, as opposed to molasses). Consistently delicate nose belies a much more intense initial taste that is carried though to the finish. Sipping reveals an immediate, take-no-prisoners attitude. Neither sweet nor dry, initial slightly petroleum tastes give way to golden apple. A bit too overwhelming for beginners - demands that you prepare your palate for its attack. This rum reminds me of a cognac or scotch.
Anecdotal Notes
RnD first discovered Clement on St. Barts, when they met Mr. Clement. He is a a gracious, polite gentleman who represents well the fine tradition his family has established in the rum world. Bottle is attractively packaged in a webbed net design.
Taster’s Opinion
Dave - My wife exclaimed that Clement 10 year old made her body shake from the top of her spine through the middle of her back after sipping neat. Great if you like the effect, but requires an acquired taste if you don't. Considerably smoother than the less-aged 3 year old or six year old rums from Clement. Still, it has a bit of a bite and overall a bit disappointing considering its age and tradition. Clement 10 Year Old is fine neat if you like a rum that attacks your senses, otherwise, drink with a little ice.
