Clement 10 ans d’age - Roger’s Review

Objective Notes
Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)

Strong flavor up front with hints of oak and vanilla. Some bite early with a smoother finish. A light amber rum with a slight vanilla smell. Consistent flavor which isn’t very complex as I find with many Agricole rums.

Anecdotal Notes
This rum isn’t a casual drinking rum. It’s meant to be sipped after a dinner by a fire with a fine cigar. Drink in small qualities straight (Neat) or on the rocks. RnD chose to purchase Clément 10 year old on St. Barts, when they met Marcel-André Clément, the grandson of the company’s founder. He offered some advice on our purchase of fine rums. It was between a fine Neisson Rum and his 10 year old Clément Rum. He was gracious and very happy to give us some advice and tell us a bit about himself. After conversion we bought both bottles. After a subsequent conversation he generously bought me one of his other rums which he was just starting to import to the US (see my review of the Clément Premiere Canne Rum rum).

Taster’s Opinion
Roger - Much better than the less-aged 3 year old or 6 year old rums from Clement. As compared to other 10-12 year old rums in it's class it seemed to fall a little short for me personally. I was expecting it to be a bit smoother considering its age.
