Objective Notes
Very Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)
Doorly’s XO is easy on the eyes, showing the kind of Deep mahogany amber color that often indicates long barrel aging and complex flavors. Aromas heavy with molasses, raw cane, brown sugar, cardamom and a pinch of anise, rise above an overall depth that is sweet with a delectable hint of alcohol. The initial taste is upbeat, with tamed molasses, tobacco, a little charcoal, and a mild earthiness that balances the sweet flavor. While the body is pleasant enough, it is lighter than the aromas would indicate. An initial warming in the throat during the finish gives way to a residual sweetness, that ends with a pleasing dry affect.
Anecdotal Notes

Packaging stresses practicality over unique shape. A wide round bottle resists tipping, while a gently tapered neck facilitates an accurate pour. Doorly’s XO clear glass bottle displays the spirits exquisite color, inviting window shoppers to try the goods inside.
Tasters Opinion
Dave - I believe it is important to develop a taste for Barbados rum. After all, some of the earliest (arguably the first) rum production in the New World happened on Barbados. Inexpensive and plentiful, it’s a shame such a limited variety of their varied production makes it to the USA. Among the few Bajan rums that trickle onto American shores, Doorly’s XO represents Barbados well, with a depth of flavor and guileless character that is suitably refined without pretense.
