Gosling’s Gold Bermuda Rum

Objective Notes

Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)

Gosling’s Gold Bermuda Rum is golden honey in color. On the nose you find aromas of light vanilla, allspice, candied nuts, and mild alcohol that is inoffensive. The initial taste reveals a spicy sweetness up front with a light body. Flavors of buttery-toffee, vanilla wafers, and light brown sugar are revealed. A pleasingly warm and sweet finish fades into a delicate velvet spice parfait.

Anecdotal Notes

Gosling’s Gold Bermuda Rum has been one of my two base rums for my many batches of my homemade spiced rum that you can find the recipe for in our original article Rum Spicing from Mild to Wild and Wild to Mild.   Gosling’s Gold is a blend of both Pot and continuous column still distillates that are aged mostly to 5 years before being married together prior to bottling. It’s presented in a tall clear bottle with red silkscreened label and a red foil wrapped neck leading to the red plastic screw cap top.

Taster’s Opinion

Roger - Gosling’s Gold is nice very reasonable priced rum that you can enjoy every day.  It can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks but I like better in cocktails like a Cuba Libre or Mai Tai. It’s not outstanding but very good, especially at the price point, so don’t hesitate to try it.
