Neisson Extra Vieux (Roger’s Review)
Neisson Extra Vieux (Roger’s Review)
Objective Notes
Smooth (on the RnD scale of Harsh-Smooth-Very Smooth-Extremely Smooth)
Simple clean taste. A bit of heat up front with a smooth finish. Not much vanilla or char. Light hints of smoke. You can taste the Alcohol in this rum. Consistent and not complex flavor similar to many agricole rums I’ve tasted.
Anecdotal Notes
We bought this rum in Gustavia, St. Barths on our most recent trip to the Caribbean. We purchased it and another agricole rum distilled on Martinique. Martinique has a rich history of producing fine agricole (from sugar cane juice and not Molasses) rums and has the most distilleries in the Caribbean.
Taster’s Opinion
Roger - I recommend drinking this straight (Neat) or with ice. It isn’t my favorite rum but it’s a good rum for those fans of agricole rums. I prefer to drink it on cold evenings while sitting next to a fire. It has a bit of fire and bite which seems to me to go better in cool weather.
